After months of speculation, the England international finally completes his move from the Midlands club to the Premier League champions, penning a five-year contract

Manchester United have completed the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Young for a fee believed to be in the region of £17 (€19) million.

The club confirmed on their official website that the England international has signed a five-year contract after passing a medical.

Young had been at Villa Park since January 2007 following a move from Watford and made 190 appearances in his time at the club, scoring 38 goals.

United defender Rio Ferdinand has lauded the signing, saying via his Twitter account: "Welcoming Ashley Young to Manchester United, another top, hungry and young player joins the ranks."

The winger is the club's second signing of the summer after the transfer of young defender Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers.
