Mercy Johnson begins marriage counseling classes

Mercy Johnson and her fiance, Odianose Okojie have begun their marriage counseling class at The Christ Embassy (Lagos, Nigeria) in preparation for their August 27, wedding.
The inseparable lovebirds, who returned from France and United States of America a week ago after a shopping spree, have started the journey into matrimony with this step.
The marriage class which entails teaching the couple how to cope with the challenges of matrimony will last for a few more weeks.
Meanwhile, Mercy Johnson has bought her wedding dress from New York, United States of America-but she’s keeping every one guessing about the designer and style of the bridal gown.
It is apparent that Mercy has set her sights really focused on her upcoming marriage and is willing to take every step that would help it come to fruition. We wish her the best of luck!

I don’t know if i would marry Dbanj

In a recent interview granted Tell Magazine, a Nigerian weekly edition release, Genevieve Nnaji was asked if she could marry Nigerian musician and latest BET Award winner Dbanj and her response was quite instantaneous.
You had a brilliant music video with D’Banj in Fall in Love, you guys had great chemistry and there have been rumors that you two are an item. He was at your birthday party in London in May, if all the circumstances are right, will you say yes to marriage with D’Banj?
First of all I have to agree within myself that I actually want to get married. If I would marry him, I don’t know. I think my life is already chaotic as it is being one celebrity. So, it’s a no.
When you talk about not getting married, what is it with marriage that you find repulsive?
No, I don’t find marriage repulsive but every day I learn from married people about what not to do when it comes to marriage. I think I’ve just learnt the bad things about marriage before the good ones. There is constant discouragement but I just know for a fact that when I find the right person I will definitely not think about it. Marriage should be about finding the right person, finding your soul mate, not necessarily in receiving love. What do you think?

Money contributed for Ashley Nwosu’s funeral shamefully missing

As part of their own and one of the trailblazers in Nollywood, Ashley Nwosu paid his due and was indeed iconic for the industry. So when his sudden demise happened, it was really shocking for all his supporters and especially colleagues with whom they have rubbed shoulders together. In line with that and a desire to recognize his achievement, Nigerian movie stars adequately contributed to his funeral so that their brother, father and friend Ashley be given a befitting burial. But what happens when the numerous vast amounts contributed suddenly is unaccounted for? Below is a breakdown of the amount contributed by the stars:
Tonto Dike: $650
Rita Dominic: $150
Stephanie Okereke: $150
Segun Arinze: $650
Justis Esiri: $50
Ini Edo: $100
Gnevieve Nnaji: $500
*Aside the Genevevie amount, all other amounts are the dollar approximations of the Nigerian currency equivalent.
As well as various other lumpy donations from Governors and esteemed personalities. What seem to have been accounted for thus far is the $500 dollars Genevieve contributed and another amount of $170 donation which was hurriedly presented by the National secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) at a late hour. Aside that, all other amounts is yet to be accounted for. Should this be allowed to perpetuate?
In an attempt to fend off the perception of accusations of any misappropriation however, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the AGN sent out this letter in an attempt to clarify the accounts:
June 16, 2011
The National President
Actors Guild of Nigeria
17 Ajao Road Surulere, Lagos
Dear Sir,
REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN OF ASHLEY NWOSU BURIAL COMMITTEE
MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE:
1.ABUBAKAR S. YAKUBU – CHAIRMAN
2.DONALD OKOLI – SECRETARY
3.EMEKA ENYIOCHA – MEMBER
4.EMEKA RISING IBEH – MEMBER/LAGOS STATE CHAIRMAN
5.FRANK DALLAS – MEMBER
The committee was set up by the National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Segun Arinze, with the sole objective of organizing a befitting burial for the Late Ashley Nwosu.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
1. Liaise with the family of the Late Ashley Nwosu with a view to participate in his burial activities
2. Organize a befitting service of songs/candle light vigil in Lagos, his state chapter.
3. Ensure late Ashley Nwosu’s family members attend the service of songs/candle light night
4. Mobilize members to attend his burial ceremony en mass
5. Work with state chapters concerned, i.e Lagos and Abia to ensure that Late Ashley be given a befitting burial.
6. Reach out to members to contribute generously towards the burial ceremony
FUNDING
The committee was supposed to be funded by the National body of AGN, but since fund was not available in the National account, we were made to rely on funds from Lagos state chapter, which was empowered to levy its members towards the burial ceremonies. The National President gave the committee the sum of 50,000 naira ($333) to kick start the burial plans. The fifty thousand naira was handed over to the Chairman, Lagos state chapter of AGN since the chapter was saddled with running the expenses. The money was used as deposit for the T-shirts. No other fund was given to the committee for the burial activities.
MEETING
The committee met only once within the three weeks of its life span with the following persons in attendance, Messrs. Abubakar Yakubu, Chairman, Emeka Rising Ibeh, Chairman Lagos chapter and Emeka Enyiocha, members respectively. The only issue discussed at the meeting was the approval of the amount of money to be paid as burial levy.
1. A List stars =N=5,000 ($33) and above
2.Others =N=1,000 minimum ($7)
I also met with Mr. Frank Dallas once at a separate time, but never met with the Secretary, Donald Okoli. I only got a report from the Lagos state chapter Chairman, Mr Emeka Rising Ibeh that Mr Okoli was helping the state chapter to collect money from members. During my meeting with Mr. Dallas, he took permission to be excused from our regular meetings as he was in a mourning period for late Ashley Nwosu who was his uncle; but pledged his support whenever needed. I was consistently sending out text messages to members for us to meet, even when the President summoned the committee for a final briefing before the service of songs night, no one turned up except the Chairman and the Lagos chapter chairman.
I was in constant contact with the Lagos State Chairman, Mr Ibeh to get updates on things that the chapter was funding for the Candle light Night. I also spoke extensively on the phone with Emeka Enyiocha on Wednesday, 8th june 2011 when he demanded to know how much was realized and the amount budgeted for late Ashley’s family and widow. I told him that the committee had not received the financial report from Lagos Chapter authorized to collect the levy and the contributions. The discussion almost turned into an argument as I tried to make him understand the limitations of the powers of the committee in the disbursement of funds. I equally urged him to pay up his levy as the state chapter reported that he was yet to pay. We concluded that the committee would meet in Umuahia before the funeral ceremony.
ABNORMALLY
The committee was not empowered by the National Executive Council to receive donations/levies from members and or the public towards the burial activities. Only Lagos State Chapter was authorized to receive levies and donations. In fact, there was no formal letter of appointment setting up the committee from the NEC up till date, but we functioned with the verbal pronouncement of the President in setting up the committee and with firm resolve to give late Ashley Nwosu a befitting burial. This abnormally was reported to the President and at some point I threatened to quit but he encouraged me to go on since the objective was to give late Ashley a well deserved burial.
SERVICE OF SONGS/CANDLE LIGHT NIGHT
To ensure a successful hosting of service of songs and candle light night, the committee wrote a passionate letter of invitation and plea for donations toward the event to all A-List stars. The letter was signed by the National President and Chairman Lagos state Chapter. Also the committee wrote to the management of O’Jez Restaurant, National Stadium and requested to use their car park for the service of songs and with the help of the National President; the venue was given to us free of charge. The committee received the following items for the service of songs night.
1.Two Canopies for the Band – Courtesy Lagos state Chapter
2.A large Banner of the deceased – Courtesy National President
3.Live band and P.A.S – Courtesy National President
4.Chairs – Courtesy O’Jez Restaurant
5.Bottled and pure water – Courtesy So safe Water
6.Meat pie – Courtesy Lagos state chapter
7.Candles – Courtesy Lagos state chapter
8.AGN Choir – Courtesy Lagos state chapter
9.T-Shirts – Courtesy Lagos state chapter
10.Program of Event – Courtesy Lagos state chapter
11.MC – Courtesy Lagos state chapter
12.Security – Courtesy Lagos state chapter
13.Pastor – Courtesy Lagos state chapter
14.Media coverage – Courtesy Lagos state chapter
15.Video Coverage – Kiss Event/National President
The service of songs and candle light night was held on the 2nd of June 2011, from 5pm – 9pm and was well attended by who is who in the motion picture industry aka Nollywood. Also the deceased immediate family, brothers, sisters, uncles and members of his clan were in attendance.
After the event, I asked the Chairman, Lagos state chapter to give the committee the total expenses for the service of songs and candle light night for our record, but he requested that we wait till the end of the burial activities to enable him compiles a comprehensive account. The committee could not meet after the Service of songs night as I travelled to Port Harcourt, Abia and Imo states respectively on official assignment. I returned on the 7th June, 2011 only to embark on another official trip to Abuja on the 8th June, 2011 before going for the burial on 10th June 2011.
MOBILIZATION
To ensure massive participation of members in the final burial ceremony, the committee in conjunction with the National secretariat mobilized all the Chapters in the Eastern zone including Bayelsa and Rivers state chapters to attend the burial ceremony massively with their members in Umuahia. Of particular interest was the Bayelsa State chapter that promised and attended, the burial ceremony with 30 members including a dance troupe
FINAL BURIAL UMUAHIA, ABIA STATE, 10th – 11th June 2011
The National delegation was led by the National Secretary of AGN and included myself and some states chapter chairmen. We were picked up from Owerri airport by the Chairman of Abia State chapter and some of his Exco members on Friday 10/06/2011, at about 1.45pm. We drove to Umuahia town where we met a picked up Chidi Arouma before we headed to Late Ashley Nwosu’s Village. We arrived at the Late Nwosu’s compound at about past 4pmand met with his siblings and other members of the family including wife and children. While in the village, Igwe Ben came to meet us in the deceased compound and also joined us.
We were briefed of the burial plans by his elder brother who served as the head of the family. He informed us of the wake keep scheduled for 10pm -12midnight. He told us that (all night) wake keep was not allowed in Umuahia and its environs. He excused us from attending the Wake keep since we have travelled a long distance, showing pity to us, he advised that we should rest that night, we mounted our flex banner and inspected all facilities provided for the burial. The Head of the family also informed us that Mr. Ejike Asiegbu former President of AGN, had informed him of our coming.
We left the village at about 7 pm to secure hotel accommodation in a nearby town. As we are settling down in the hotel, the Bayelsan contingents arrived in their 30 setter bus. All efforts to get a discounted rate for them in the hotel proved abortive. They were led to another hotel where they got lower room rates by a Good Samaritan. The Abia Chairman and some of his Excos departed for Aba with their bus so there was no means of transportation for the committee members, National Excos and chairmen. I called Emeka Enyiocha severally that night but he never picked his call and did not return the call.
Saturday 11th June, we woke up at about 6.30am, when the Bayelsan contingents came to inform us that there were leaving for the Late Ashley’s village to commiserate with the family for one hour before departing for Yenegoa that morning, because of traffic jam in Port Harcourt. We advised them to use Owerri road, which is shorter and traffic free. We also pleaded with them to wait, so that we can all go in convoy. Breakfast was provided for them by the committee. Ms Obot Etuk also came to meet us at the hotel about 7am.
Due to some logistic problems and hitches, we left the hotel at about past 12noon and arrived at the burial venue at 1pm in a convoy that included AGN Abia, Imo and Bayelsa states Execos, members, camera crew, National Exco representatives, Obot Etuk, Ibinabo Fiberisinma who met us on the road and others. We disembarked from the bus and walked into the field where the funeral service was going on; we noticed free chairs under a canopy, as the canopy reserved for artistes was fully occupied, we were stopped midway to the free canopy by the Fmr President of AGN, Mr. Ejike Asiegbu, who informed us that it was reserved for the State Governor and his entourage. He persuaded us to go and find somewhere else to sit as we were already late for the event and the funeral service was already going on he, concluded.
Members of our entourage pleaded with him to allow the Representative of the National President and the States chairmen to sit there, while others will go and find where to sit or stand. Messrs. Emeka Enyiocha and Steve Eboh joined Mr Asiegbu in asking us to leave the field. Tempers began to rise and parties started exchanging words. Finally we moved out of the field. The National Secretary and the States chairmen went to stand under a tree while other members of the entourage dispersed into the crowd. At that point, I went into the field to take photographs and assist in the funeral service. Mr. Asiegbu came to register his disappointment in me and the National President, not to have deemed it fit to call him over Ashley’s death knowing too well that he is close to the Govt.
I informed him that the National President, Segun Arinze called him on two occasions and he never picked his call and that he even sent a text message which was not acknowledged. He said he never saw anything on his phone. I tendered an apology for that. The funeral ceremony went on smoothly from that point till the Governor eventually came and left. It was during the vote of thanks that some of us heard that the Governor provided transport fare, accommodation, welfare, internal transport and security for artistes. I asked Messrs Eboh and Enyiocha why they did not inform us that Govt, provided all of the above for artistes. Mr. Eboh said he never knew that I was in Umuahia for the burial while Enyiocha just kept mute.
After the funeral service, representatives of AGN National were requested to escort the corpse to the grave side for the final burial rites. We followed and witnessed his final journey into the grave amidst tears. It was an emotional moment for all. After the burial, we waited for the presentation of gifts ceremony as it is with Igbo burial tradition, meanwhile our colleagues including Emeka Enyiocha, a member of the burial commitee left before we returned from the grave side without informing us of their destination. I called Mr. Enyiocha severally to join in the presentation of gifts but did not pick the calls.
Having waited for over thirty minutes for the family to decide on where the presentation would take place, rain started to drizzle. We quickly arranged the gift items and took them to the family house where it was presented to the representative of the family, Late Ashley’s elder brother.
Meanwhile, the Chairman Lagos state Chapter kept $500 with me since Wednesday 8 June, 2011. He told me it was donated by Genevieve Nnaji to be given to Ashley’s widow. The Chairman could not make the presentation to her as the room was over crowded and she was emotionally down cast and also crying. The chairman Lagos state chapter informed her that the State has a package for her and that it would be delivered to her in Lagos when she returns. She agreed and we departed the village in a heavy down pour. Please find attached photographs personally taken both at the funeral service and burial ceremony.
ALLEGATIONS:
While I was in my hotel room in Asaba later that night, I was informed that Abia State Governor gave all the Artistes that attended the burial ceremony N4 million for their transport fare. He also hosted them to a state banquet in Govt., House Umuahia. I arrived in Lagos only to start receiving calls from people including friends that we embezzled 600,000 naira ($4000) contributed for Ashley’s burial and that we did not even participate in all the burial activities. I wish to state categorically, that I did not follow them to the mortuary and attend the lying in state because of my religious belief as a Muslim.
I also want to state again that as chairman of the burial Committee, I was not empowered to receive and or disburse funds for the late Ashley Nwosu’s burial and until I receive the account details from the Chairman, Lagos Chapter, I cannot disclose how much was received and spent.
CONCLUSION
First and foremost, I would like to thank the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Segun Arinze for the opportunity given me to serve my Guild in this capacity against all odds. There were abnormalities though, but he encouraged me greatly. I will strongly advise that only committed members who are willing to serve the Guild should be given responsibilities in future. Administrative procedures must be followed religiously to prevent loopholes or abnormalities in a constituted authority.
Finally, The Chairman Lagos state chapter, custodian of all the funds collected has assured me that all the monies received are intact and proper account would be given.
Long Live AGN!
God Bless.
Thanks
Abubakar Sanusi Yakubu

Juliet Ibrahim: How I Met My Husband

Twenty-five year old Ghanaian born Lebanese actress, Juliet Safo a.k.a Juliet Ibrahim was born to a Lebanese father;Mr. Hussein Ibrahim and a half Liberian and Ghanaian mother; Mrs.Sarah Elizabeth Ibrahim.

The very intelligent and multilingual actress who speaks French, Spanish and English spoke on how she met her husband and how he influenced her career in a recent interview.

Excerpts from the interview;

So how do you juggle being a wife, a mother, actress and a musician considering how tasking it is? Hmmmm by the grace of God I’m doing a pretty good job! Also with the help of my lovely mother and family I have little worries and stress.

You are one Ghana’s beautiful actresses and your looks and fair skin makes one wonder if you are of mixed parentage? Yes I am, my father is a Lebanese, I am of a mixed race.

So how does an extremely beautiful woman like you ward off advances from men?

I think my wedding ring helps me do the talking(laughs).I haven’t come across stubborn stalkers yet, had stalker years back and I had to involve the police till he stopped.

How is marriage and motherhood treating you?

I am doing wonderfully well, all thanks to God. It’s been great so far.

What makes Juliet Ibrahim stand out from other actresses?

Who I am makes me stand out.

My appearance amongst other actresses stands out, I don’t have to blow my own horn, but Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez have nothing on me.

What is your relationship with other actresses in Ghana and Nigeria?

I talk to everyone who talks to me, I’m a very friendly person and so down to earth so I click with everybody I meet.

Who are your friends in Nollywood?

I don’t really have because when I come for work I always work and leave. But I’m cool with a few people that I chat with on my blackberry messenger every now and then and that have helped me through my career, directors, producers and some colleagues.

Apart from acting, and the latest addition music, what else do you do?

I run a beauty parlour called Envoque, and a boutique called House of Glamour.

What does your husband do?

He is a pilot and a business man.

How did you meet?

We met some years ago on a plane, exchanged numbers and started talking but he was living in the USA then, so it was a long distance relationship and we became more serious and he moved back to Ghana 2 years back.

We realized that we were in love and got married last year.

It’s always said that Ghanaian babes have bigger bums than Nigerian babes, what do you think explains this?

(Laughs) I don’t know about that because I don’t look at ladies bums (laughs). But in Ghana most Ashanti’s have big backsides. I’m Lebanese but was born in Ghana. I got my backside from my mother’s family that’s the Liberian side.

What’s your view on the influx of near porn movies in Ghana?

(Laughs) those kind of movies are not movies from well known producers they are done by some new and money conscious producers, that’s why they are not tastefully done.

If you watch quality productions movies you won’t notice anything bad than what is been done in some foreign movies. Taste is what some people lack when shooting these movies.

What movie are you working on at the moment?

I’m working with Silver line productions in a movie co-starring Frank Artus, Adjetey Anang, Nadia Buari, David Dontoh and Ekow Smith.

Do you nurse the dream of featuring in a Hollywood movie?

Every actor dreams of starring in a Hollywood movie so if I get the chance why not.

Yvonne Nelson Turns Musician?

This might sound comical but according to Hi Newspaper, actresses Yvonne Nelson who is currently serving a year ban for her gross arrogant and behaviour disorder has gone in hard as a Rapper on Trigmatic’s upcoming album ‘Solution’.I cannot think of how the verse, rhythm and flow will go but this is a track I am dying to listen…

According to Hi-Newspaper, Trigmatic confirmed this by saying “Yvonne and me had been friends since we met in Martin de Porres School at Dansoman. We used to rap together. After basic school she continued to Aggrey Memorial Secondary in Cape Coast, where I gather, she moved on with her ‘tomboy’ stuff. ‘Tomboy’ because one hardly saw lot of girls listening to rap music let alone rapped in those early times of hip hop invasion of our industry.

My source cousin who knows Yvonne Nelson quite well from Aggrey Memorial Secondary just told me that, ” yeah Chris, Yvonne Nelson used to rock the stage when we were in secondary school and she was pretty good with her music stuff, so you never got to see her on stage those days?” HELL No!

I was in Adisadel College, Cape Coast around the same time Yvonne Nelson was in Aggrey Memorial Secondary School doing her rap thing, even though I remember making countless event trips and seeing some few tomboy lady rappers from Ghana National and Aggrey Memorial Secondary, I do not think I ever saw Yvonne Nelson on any cross-secondary school stage event.

I guess until the Yvonne Nelson rap track drops on our radio waves (When it does, I will scrap a copy for you guys), we have to just keep the imagination going- Yvonne Nelson the new rap chick in town!

Opeele Wants ‘Unruly’ Mzbel Out Of President’s Cup

coach opeele
Ghanaian coach Opeele Boateng has asked organizers of the President’s Cup to remove ‘unruly’ musician Mzbel from the list of entertainers for Friday’s match to honour the country’s leader.
Giants Kotoko will take on league champions Berekum Chelsea in the annual match organized by the GHALCA.

Mzbel, a controversial hip-life musician, was recently brought before the law courts, accused of physically assaulting a police officer Lumorvi Wonder. Mzbel was held in custody for allegedly assaulting and obstructing a police officer from executing his duty after a friend of the musician disobeyed commands to move his vehicle that was obstructing traffic in Accra.

Opeele says rewarding Mzbel with singing at one of the biggest sports events in Ghana when she has been accused of such a serious crime is an insult to the president of the country.

“It is not done anywhere in the world when such a serious crime is alleged to have been committed and we reward the person with on a big platform,” Opeele said on Asempa FM.

“She is mired in controversy and she must clear her name first of the unruly claims. “Giving her this opportunity to sing at this event is an insult to all Ghanaians.

“The world over when people like Tiger Woods and the rest commit misjudgments sponsors withdraws their sponsorship. “GHALCA must do the right thing and withdraw Mzbel from the event.”Meanwhile GHALCA is yet to respond to calls from Ghanasoccernet.com over the calls to remove Mzbel from Friday’s programme line-up.

Several sports stars lose their sponsorship deals when they are in the news for the wrong reasons.

JUSTIN BIEBER RIPS BET SECURITY

Justin Bieber had some harsh words for a security guard outside the BET Awards. Here's how it all went down.

Justin Bieber has a mouth on him. The teen idol got all riled up at the BET Awards last week when one of the on-site security guards wouldn't let Bieber's own bodyguard through the gate -- even though Bieber was a presenter.
TMZ has a video of the altercation. In it, you can see it all started because Bieber's bodyguard didn't have a ticket. BET security was utterly inflexible, repeating over and over, "You gotta have a ticket... You know how many security guys I've turned down today?"
Bieber was attacked outside of Macy's in New York City just days earlier and was not going anywhere without his bodyguard -- and he let the doorman know it.
"I need my security with me," Bieber said. "This guy's a douchebag."
Eventually BET staffers let Bieber's whole crew inside. A rep for the BET Awards brushed off the incident, saying, "It is our standard policy to make sure everyone has their tickets or credential upon arrival. Justin had the proper credentials."

Omosexy Hubby Still Proud of Her

The Omotola Jalade ‘buttocks tapping’ incident at the last Grammy Awards, where another man was seen in a photo with his hand on the actress’s butt, is still making news in Nollywood.

Just when the issue was about to die down after months of journalists have fed on the issue, Omotola’s husband Captain Ekeinde has now made a public statement to make his position clear.

He is reported to have defended his wife and said he was ‘cool’ with the picture. He was however saddened by how the Nigerian media treated the photo. He expected that the media would have celebrated her first appearance at the Grammy instead of the negative buzz that followed it.

“I am very proud of my wife’s accomplishments and I join other well wishers and millions of her fans to toast her success. I’m a little surprised that instead of Nigerians celebrating her appearance at the Grammys and her being the first Nollywood star to walk the red carpet, they are busy spreading tales and rumors that do not exist.

“Truth be told, I was not angry with my wife when I saw the picture. Why should I be? I know who I married, how self-respecting she is and also the nature of her industry. She is an actress for God’s sake, and it is not out of place for actresses to appear in scenes that may look a little out of place for a married person,” he was quoted.

“The key thing is that my wife respects her marital status, and in our 15-year marriage, she has been the best woman any man could aspire to have. In spite of her stardom, at home, she is my wife. She cooks for me, takes care of the home and above all, is a great mother to our lovely children. I sincerely would implore her fans not to buy into rumors and speculations about her marital life, because I, the husband, the one that is lucky to have her as my wife is so proud of her and I continue to thank God for bringing her into my life. I could never have asked for a better wife than her,” Mr. Ekeinde, a commercial airline pilot, concluded.

Omotola was quoted to have said that she has never cheated on her husband.

“I have been married to my husband for 15 years now, and I say this loud and clear that I have never cheated on him, and would never do so ever! Remember I said in an interview I granted you in 2009, that yes, I have been tempted numerous times to violate my marital vows, but I have always resisted the temptation to do anything that would bring dishonor to my marriage and my children,” she told Nigeriafilms.com.

Why I Enlarged My Breast: Confidence

I was going to respond to the article below and ask some serious questions as to where is the link and where should we draw the line when it comes to ordinary Boob job like that of Confidence Haugen and those that are done for Breast cancer purposes.

I do not see any sort of link between Confidence Haugen going out there to seek for glamorous boobs by inserting some silicon into her breast and the medically recommended surgery for breast cancer.

However, I think probably Confidence Haugen and her ignorant team think the two are identical or they think they can turn Confidence’s seek for self fulfillment boob job into a positive one that society will encourage by bring it close to breast cancer ones.

If you ask me, I think what Confidence Haugen said below is not only a showcase of her ignorance but also a total disrespect for poor victims of breast cancer.

If we need a breast cancer advocate in Ghana, does Confidence Haugen think her fake boobs will bring her close to becoming an ambassador for such a good cause?

The Article…

Aphrodisiac Nite Club owner, Confidence Haugen has said she is ready to lend support to women who are battling breast cancer with plastic surgery. This she believes will make them feel “whole”.

Speaking on Multi TV’s PM EXPRESS programme, Confidence explained that she underwent plastic surgery in the year 2000 to have her breasts enlarged because she did not feel “whole” with her breasts at the time which she referred to as “little fellows”.

“I used to have very little ‘underchester’ and my self esteem was really down and I noticed it when I did Miss Ghana. I was very uncomfortable. I couldn’t fit into those sexy clothes without putting on this bra aid. I didn’t feel whole” she told show host Nii Arday Clegg.

“I remember somebody gave an advice saying ‘you know you’re a pretty girl and it doesn’t matter how intelligent you are or whatever comes out of your mouth or the kind of business you are in, people are just gonna look at you because you’re pretty. So just walk into the door with what they want to see and hit them with your intelligence’ and that’s what I did and it worked” she recounted.

Having had her breast implants 11 years ago, Confidence believes women who have survived the scourge of breast cancer should not walk about with just one breast or none at all depending on the outcome of their surgery. She is hopeful if survivors agree to have a plastic surgery as she has had, they would feel more comfortable.

“I hope this doesn’t come off badly, but it’s like a male having some part of his organ off, boobs, that’s part of womanhood. Imagine when you don’t have one because of a disease” she said.

According to her, she is going to take up the task of supporting breast cancer patients with plastic surgery through her charity called “Project Smile” which currently focuses on children with birth deformities like cleft.

“I love plastic surgery and there’s a lot of good that plastic surgery can do in Ghana … I do have a charity called project smile and what we do is we do plastic surgery for deformities from birth because I believe kids do heal properly and have a better life but now we’re going to add breast cancer to it because they’re all plastic surgery anyway. I want to put a smile on people’s faces” she said.

Confidence says she is comfortable with her plastic surgery for now but would not hesitate to go for another surgery if need be. Although she would not say how many surgeries she has already had, she pointed out that the breast implant is the only plastic surgery she has ever had.

Is This True: ‘Ghanaian Men Can’t Have Good Sex’ – Actress

Is what actress Helen Asante saying true? I will surely count myself out because I know how the game goes and I am good at it. Come to think of it, how many Ghanaian men have she rocked with to come to such a hasty generalization? Of course she has not met folks like me…
‘As a young lady…I think I am a young lady trying to please my man and in the process, I tried whispering words into his ears, telling him sweet stuff that turns him on but when it is my turn, he does not do anything. “All that Ghanaian guys want is sex, sex and sex.’ What is she talking about here? She sounds like an amateur to me…
Anyway, if  you are interested in why the actress is saying Ghanaian men can’t have good sex, read below for what she told NewsOne….
………………………………………………………………………………..
Ghanaian men may have to upgrade their sex skills because actress Helen Asante has stated categorically that many Ghanaian guys simply do not know how to have good sex that satisfies both partners.
She complained that Ghanaian guys were only interested in releasing sperms and once that was achieved, they abandoned the whole art of sex and lovemaking. Majority of them are mostly and only interested in just ‘coming’ and do not care about what their female partners feel…it is not fair.
I have got issues with guys. As a young lady…I think I am a young lady trying to please my man and in the process, I tried whispering words into his ears, telling him sweet stuff that turns him on but when it is my turn, he does not do anything. “All that Ghanaian guys want is sex, sex and sex.
Majority of them don’t care about lovemaking; all they want is sex. Trust me, if a guy doesn’t come (ejaculate), he will start having issues with his girlfriend,” Helen complained while speaking on TV’s late Night Show hosted by actress Ebi Bright. The programme was about lovemaking. Interestingly, Helen is a 24-year-old with small features, therefore it is a wonder she does not get sexually satisfied by the Ghanaian man or men she goes to bed with. She also did not say how many rounds of sex she expects men to go, how long each round should last or what sexual position would satisfy her libido.
The two male panelists on the show, actor Eddie Nartey and Daddy Bosco of Hitz FM appeared completely taken aback by Helen’s complaints. While Eddie argued that he was not part of the Ghanaian men who could not perform well in bed and that Helen might have tried the wrong set of guys, she would have none of that and insisted that as far as she was concerned, Ghanaians guys were just boring in bed. Helen is one of the lead casts in Shirley Frimpong Manso’s directed ‘Adams Apples”.
Born into a family of six, she hails from Kyebi in the Eastern Region. She started her education from Snaps Nursery School at Asylum Down, then to Sunset Preparatory school before continuing at Wesley Grammar High School and the Adonai Institute of Radio and TV presentation, where she took a sex-month course in 2005. She subsequently enrolled at the Zenith College, where she graduated with a certificate in Tourism and hospitality management. Besides acting, she develops story ideas and writes them for producers.-Source: NewsOne

Manchester United set to lodge a £20m bid to sign Samir Nasri from Arsenal

The Red Devils are reportedly going to table a bid that will test the Gunners' resolve, with the Frenchman currently having only one year left on his contract at the Emirates

Manchester United are reportedly going to lodge a £20 (€22.5) million bid this week to acquire the services ofArsenal midfielder Samir Nasri.

The 23-year-old is thought to have been offered a five-year contract by the Gunners after his top quality showings last season. But he is yet to put pen to paper and confirm his stay at Ashburton Grove, with speculation abounding that his reluctance to commit reflects Arsenal's trophy drought and uncertainty about manager Arsene Wenger's transfer activity.

In the meantime, the midfielder has been linked with a controversial move to the Red Devils, who are fresh from becoming the most successful club in English football after surpassing Liverpool when they won their 19th league title last season.

Now The News of the World reports that United will make a £20m (€22.5m) move to sign the Frenchman this week.

Arsenal are believed to be anxious not to repeat the mistake they made with Mathieu Flamini - who left on a Bosman free transfer to join AC Milan in 2008 - with Nasri currently having only one year left on his contract with the club.

‘Somewhere In Africa’ A Coup D’état Movie Premieres At National Theatre On July 30!

As a patriotic Ghanaian, I detest people who make comments that seem to suggest that they do not like Ghanaian movies. Comments such as ‘I don’t watch Ghanaian movies’ and ‘I only watch foreign movies’ and the rest of such worthless comments irritate me.
Nonetheless I think that people who make such comments can’t be blamed for their stand. This is because sometimes it’s very painful to watch some of these Ghanaian movies with horrific picturesinappropriate languages, bad sound and lots of continuity inaccuracies.
So it’s somehow prudent to concur with the people who have constantly drummed into our ears their strong aversion for movies produced in Ghana. Just imagine sitting through the entire duration of a Ghanaian movie and only to realize that, the story line is similar to several Ghanaian movies you have already watched.
Don’t get it twisted, it’s not a similar story; it’s actually the same story twisted with different casts.
Least I forget, their story lines are about love: If it’s not about someone dreaming about a lady and goes to gallivant searching for the said lady [imagine this], then it would be a man who claims to love a girl yet goes to the ladies house to insult and beat the parents.
But the latest movie ‘Somewhere In Africa’ departs away from the known love themed movies. It’s a story about coup d’état. Now I understand why most movie producers in Ghana always produce love movies; the budget. ‘Somewhere In Africa’ appears to be a well produced movie.
Coup D’état is simply the military intervention in politics and Africans are still fighting this disease. For Ghanaians, coup d’états are still fresh in the minds.
The movie tells a story of a change in government in Kimbala. The coup d’état was masterminded by Lieutenant Yusuf Mumbasa [Played by Majid Michel], a thirsty and fierce man.
He subjected the whole country to a serious pandemonium as he and his men [loyalist] pursued and killed government officials who he felt were milking the country dry.
In a town where blood thirsty militant subject the government to coup d’état, life is unpredictable. The influential are coiled in their shells in total stillness and the civilians hide behind hypocritical facet of patriotism.
No one dares Mumbasa, the widows cry, orphans wail and the town mourns in complete silence. There arises a group of fearless combatants: a group of unstoppable students  who refuses to fall into a category of cowards.
Their audacity is reinforced by esteemed  solidarity to seek justice for the family of their widow vice principal, whose husband [played by Rev. Eddie Coffie] fell victim to the callous act of Mumbasa. At this juncture, it can’t be told who is fiercer the students or Mumbasa.
‘Somewhere In Africa’ stars Majid Michel, Martha Ankomah, David Dontoh, Roselyn Ngissah among others.  The grand premiere of the movie is on July 30, 2011 at the National Theatre, Ghana. There will be two showing; 6pm and 8pm.
The movie then shows in the following cities below:
Accra: Silverbird Cinema On 19th August, 2011 at 6pm and 8pm
Kumasi: Miklin Hotel On 5th August, 2011 at 6pm and 8pm
Takoradi: Polytechnic Hall On 20th August, 2011 at 6pm and 8pm
Tamale: P. Conner Hotel Hall On 26th, 27th & 28th, 2011 at 6pm and 8pm
