Hotel Babylon Hits Big Screens In March

Kobi Rana’s film, ‘Hotel Babylon’, will officially open for public viewing on March 17 via a grand premiere at the National Theatre in Accra.

The movie, which stars Ramsey Nouah, also has some of the crème de la crème of Ghana’s movie industry.

Among them are Nana Ama McBrown, Roselyn Ngissah, James Gardener, Eddie Watson Nana Heyford and Kafui.

The premiere is long overdue as movie fans have been waiting for the movie for quite some time now.

As part of the premiere, there will be musical performances by Rana, Ruff N Smooth, Obour, Okyeame Kwame, Akoo Nana, Kwabena Kwabena, Ohemaa Mercy, Phillipa Baafi, Keche, Bradez and a host of others.

The film will be shown twice, at 6pm and 9pm. The performances will be in between.

Tickets are selling at Joy FM, Adom FM, Accra Mall (Foto Store and Silverbird), Busy Internet and Legon Drama Studio.

A couple of weeks ago, there were reports that Ramsey was the only character on the film’s poster, and this raised a lot of questions.

The likes of Nana Ama McBrown, Beverly Afaglo, Roslyn Ngissah and Nana Hayford were not on the poster.

But sources said a new poster is out now with some of the Ghanaian actors on it.

‘Hotel Babylon’, after the Ghana premiere, is expected to be at some major cinemas in the world.

NEWS-ONE is yet to ascertain the quality of the film, but there are rumors that it is a good one, hence Ramsey’s decision to be part of it.

Kobi Rana had earlier stated on his facebook page that “plans are underway to premiere this film in not only Ghana but also Nigeria, South Africa, France, USA and U.K.”

Actor Majid Michel, who has been in the US for the Pan African Film Festival, Grammys and other activities, was caught tightly hugging Hollywood actress Meagan Good.

The incident happened at the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Think like a Man’, which saw a guest list that read like a ‘who’s who in black Hollywood’.

The two seemed to be having a good conversation until they were interrupted for photographs, which both actors were more than happy to smile for.

Other stars at the event were Gabrielle Union, Taraji P. Henson, Kevin Hart, Jennifer Hudson, Yaya DaCosta, Melyssa Ford, Keke Palmer, Sean Combs, Selita Ebanks, Kelly Rowland and Serena Williams.

Michael Jackson Doctor Refused Early Release

MICHAEL Jackson's former personal doctor Conrad Murray has been denied an early release from jail – in case he flees from the US. A judge yesterday turned down his legal team's request to release him while he appeals against his involuntary manslaughter conviction. He was jailed for four years for administering an overdose of anaesthetic propofol to the singer in June 2009. At Los Angeles Superior Court, Judge Michael Pastor said there was a risk of Murray, 59, leaving the country.

Yvonne Goes Into Comedy

Actress Yvonne Nelson seems bent on proving she is not a pushover as she is gradually becoming the hottest actress in Ghana, especially after her one year controversial ban. NEWS-ONE sources said Yvonne would also use the event to give her fans an opportunity to see for themselves that she did not wear fake designer stuff as speculated by some bloggers and spread on BlackBerry by a particular female singer known for dressing half nude. ‘Wanna Be’ is a rib-cracking comedy directed by Pascal Amanfo. The movie tells the true-life story of a lower class lady who wanted to belong to the class of the elite in society and therefore painfully lived a life far expensive than what she could afford. Reports said the script was written based on the life story of a well-known Ghanaian female hip-life artiste who recently topped headlines because of what she wore or failed to wear to a musical concert.

Rihanna & Chris Brown Record Song Together

RIHANNA and Chris Brown are making sweet music together again. Although I'm not sure the world will agree it's "sweet". The singer, who is up for Best International Female at the Brits and will perform on the night, has recorded a remix to her song Birthday Cake which features her ex — who assaulted her three years ago. The song's co-producers, Da Internz hinted: "The feature on the remix is gonna shock the world." Chris, who won a Grammy last week, has recorded both a singing verse and a rap verse. We'll have to see if any of it makes the final cut but it certainly adds more fuel to the fire that the pair are in the process of rekindling their romance. This week he attended Rihanna's early birthday celebration in Beverly Hills. You don't record a song, shoot a video and party together if you're not on speaking terms. Rihanna's a smart girl — just hope she's smart enough to not go back there.

Sarkodie admitted to the kissing and said "people think we are dating. So I'm trying to make them believe it.

VIDEO: A 90-Year-Old Gradmother Dances For Whitney Houston

With all the Whitney Houston tributes in the past week, one from a 90-year-old grandmother from Utah stands out.

With help from her grandson and caretaker, Adam Forgie, Jeanne Harr - who is legally blind and has moderate hearing loss - posted a video of herself dancing to Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" that has now gone viral.

"'I'm doing this in honor of the late Whitney Houston. It's very hard to think of her being gone," says Harr at the start of her tribute.

Harr's grandson says on his Facebook page that "one of the few things that makes her happy is dancing." This isn't her first dance video. Harr is a regular dancing machine. Check out some of her other work here.
