NEWS-ONE can confirm that a number of Nigerian music stars arrived in Ghana last night for Saturday’s ‘
Ghana Meets Naija’ show and several more will be arriving to address a pre-event press conference today.
The show brings together musicians and DJs from Ghana and Nigeria on
one stage, on one night, to entertain a packed auditorium and the
performances have usually been seen as a ‘who-is-who’ contest between
the two groups.
Indeed, organizers for the event, Empire Entertainment, have made it
official that the DJs’ section would be a straight battle between Ghana
and Nigeria and the audience would be the judges.
Saturday’s event would be the second edition of the supposed
international music contest and already there is a sharp rivalry among
music fans from both countries and a general debate over which performer
would out-do the other.
Reports said moments after the visiting stars checked into the Golden
Tulip Hotel last night, this debate sparked among them and though they
were confident of out-performing their Ghanaian counterparts, they were
not too sure of Ghanaian hiplifer Kwaw Kese aka Abodam of Madtime
Entertainment.
Nigeria would be represented by the Undisputed Man Mr. Incredible
(M.I.), who is currently receiving great reviews all over the continent
and doing great stuff.
Also from Nigeria would be Brymo, whose song ‘Ara’ is doing great in
Ghana; he did ‘Oleku’ with Ice Prince and he has a huge fan base here.
A new kid on the block, Davido, is also from Nigeria, just as the
sexy, saucy Tiwa Savage, who is a club banger known for a lot of songs
.
On the Ghanaian list are heavyweights like R2Bees, Kwaw Kesse,
Kakkie, Guru, 4×4, Tiffany, Chemphe and several artistes who have opted
to rock the stage for free just to make sure the Ghanaian squad
outperformed their Nigerian counterparts.
The challenge, according to Empire Entertainment, would be whether they would have enough time for all the performances.
They have therefore decided to start the show early and are actually considering doing an all-night-long affair.
It is not surprising that Kwaw Kesse has become an issue among the Nigerians.
Reports said he has actually charged a $10, 000 performance fee just
for the night and is currently rehearsing for the performance of his
life.
Last Saturday night, Empire Entertainment took delivery of a number
of top-of-the range luxury automobiles brought into the country, just
for the concert on the 30
th of June, by highly reputed luxury automobile company, Euro Tour.
The company is partnering with Empire Entertainment to give all artistes on the bill an experience of a lifetime.
The high-end cars, mostly black, include the Rolls Royce Ghost model, Bentleys, and Maserratis.
The cars are to be used in transporting all performing artistes, both local and international, days to the event.
All artistes will therefore be chauffeured to the venue instead of going through the stress of having to drive their own cars.
Another introduction would be the artiste lounge, which would replace the regular backstage set up known for Ghanaian concerts.
Performing artistes will therefore be feted in grand style before and after their performances on the night.
This is aimed at ensuring that artistes from both countries are
comfortable and well catered for to energize them to give off their very
best performances on the night, as well as break certain norms in the
event business.
Meanwhile, tickets for the June 30 event are selling hot at GH¢70
regular and GH¢150 VIP at Koala, Silverbird lifestyle store, Frankies
(Osu and Accra mall), MTN Stores (Osu and Accra Mall), RLG Store (Osu),
Joy FM front desk, Airport Shell, Baatsona Total, Community 11 Shell,
Jane Ann supermarket and Empire Entertainment head office at
Laterbiokorshie.
